Saint Paul recommends the Ephesian church to “be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new man, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (see Ephesians 4:23-24). At Lindenwood, we invite you to consider making a personal retreat to help aid you on your personal journey with God, growth in virtue and sanctity.
A personal retreat is accomplished by withdrawing from one’s usual surroundings and occupation for a period to a place of solitude for prayer and self-examination, in order to make necessary decisions in one’s relationship with God and the spiritual life. Since the 16th century, led by Saint Ignatius of Loyola, retreats have become a formal devotion among the clergy, vowed religious, and laity.
When you schedule your personal retreat at Lindenwood, you can expect:
- Your own bedroom with private bath and shower
- Daily meal service through our dietary services
- Plenty of quiet spaces throughout our center and campus for you to pray and meditate
- Chapels to pray and participate in the celebration of the Eucharist
- Outdoor walking paths throughout our vast campus
- Dedicated Spiritual Directors to help assist you on your spiritual journey
If you need assistance with designing a personal retreat, we are here to help guide you, no matter if it is for just the day or thirty days.
The Gift of the Spirit Scholarship allows us to financially assist retreatants who have difficulty covering the cost of a retreat. When you contact us, please do not hesitate to ask about this Scholarship option. You can also make a donation here or contact us for more information.
“Thank you so much for giving me sanctuary when I was in need. My time at Lindenwood was more amazing than I could have hoped for. Thank you for being an important part of my journey. Your kindness and gentleness when I was feeling broken was like a healing salve to a burn. I am so grateful to have had the chance to rest in God in such a sacred place.” (Jen, Private Retreatant)
