Why a personal retreat?
Do you ever wish you could just be by yourself for a few days? Would you like to just turn off all the noise and be still? Are you facing some difficult decisions and wish you just had some time or space to think? Sometimes life can be overwhelming. A personal retreat offers you a space that works with your particular schedule. It may simply be for a day, or as long as a week. It is a time to put down the “should-s” “ought-s” and “have to-s”. A personal retreat helps one let go of the outside noise and return to one’s own heart. As with any retreat, it is an opportunity to rest, to be renewed and refreshed.
What would I do for a whole day, or a whole week?
A personal retreat usually begins by recognizing what one desires, and then entering a place of stillness where one can listen to the invitations of God. That invitation often includes rest, reflection, some reading, journaling or using art materials.
The option of a directed retreat.
A directed retreat, while often done privately, also includes a meeting once a day with a spiritual director who has experience guiding others through a retreat. The spiritual director will listen with you to the Holy Spirit and help you discern God’s invitations in your life and invite you into Scripture passages that may be helpful in your prayer and reflection.

“Thank you so much for giving me sanctuary when I was in need. My time at Lindenwood was more amazing than I could have hoped for. Thank you for being an important part of my journey. Your kindness and gentleness when I was feeling broken was like a healing salve to a burn. I am so grateful to have had the chance to rest in God in such a sacred place.” (Jen, Private Retreatant)
